Terms & Conditions

 

These Terms and Conditions govern the use of services provided by The Practical Sanctuary (referred to hereafter as "The Practical Sanctuary," "we," "us," or "our"), encompassing online courses/lessons and in-person one-to-one or group lessons. By booking, participating in, or purchasing any of our services, you (referred to hereafter as the "Participant" or "you") agree to be bound by these terms.

1. Participant Health and Wellness Disclaimer
 
1.1 Medical Disclaimer (Crucial)
 
  • The Practical Sanctuary is not a medical organisation and our instructors are not medically qualified to diagnose or treat injuries or medical conditions.

  • All forms of Breathwork, Qi Gong, Tai Chi, and Meditation, including those offered by The Practical Sanctuary, involve inherent risks, and participants must acknowledge this risk.

  • The Participant confirms they are in good physical and mental health to participate in the chosen activity.

  • The Participant is solely responsible for consulting with a doctor or medical professional before participating, especially if they have a history of, or are currently experiencing, any medical or health conditions, including but not limited to:

    • Cardiovascular or respiratory issues.

    • Pregnancy (Tai Chi and Breathwork should be approached with caution).

    • Epilepsy or a history of seizures.

    • Severe mental health conditions (e.g., severe anxiety, psychosis, bipolar disorder).

    • Recent surgery or injury.

  • The Practical Sanctuary, its instructors, and its representatives will not be liable for any injury, illness, or loss sustained by the Participant as a result of participation, except where caused by our gross negligence.

1.2 Conduct During Sessions
 
  • The Participant agrees to listen to their body, exercise common sense, and inform the instructor immediately if they experience any pain, discomfort, or dizziness during any session.

  • The Participant is encouraged to make appropriate modifications to poses or techniques based on their physical capacity and the guidance of their medical professional.

2. Bookings, Payments, and Cancellation Policy
 
2.1 Online Courses and Lessons (Breathwork, Qi Gong, Tai Chi, Meditation)
 
  • All sales of online courses, pre-recorded content, and non-live-streamed lessons are strictly NON-REFUNDABLE. Once access is granted or the course begins, no refunds will be issued for any reason, including non-completion or change of mind.

  • Access to online content is for the sole use of the Participant and must not be shared, reproduced, or distributed.

2.2 In-Person Tai Chi Lessons (London, UK)
 
  • This policy applies to all 1-to-1 and group in-person lessons.

  • Cancellation with Refund: A full refund for an in-person lesson will be provided only if 48 hours' notice is given by the Participant and this notice is acknowledged by The Practical Sanctuary via email at contact@thepracticalsanctuary.com.

  • Late Cancellation/No Show: Any cancellation made with less than 48 hours' notice, or any failure to attend a scheduled lesson (a "No Show"), will result in the Participant being charged the full cost of the lesson, and no refund will be issued.

  • Lateness: If the Participant arrives late for a lesson, the session time will not be extended and will finish at the scheduled end time. The full fee will still apply.

2.3 Instructor Cancellation
 
  • In the unlikely event that The Practical Sanctuary or the instructor needs to cancel an in-person lesson, the Participant will be offered a full refund or the option to reschedule at a mutually convenient time.

3. Intellectual Property and Content Usage
 
  • All content, including course materials, lesson plans, videos, audio recordings, text, graphics, and methods provided by The Practical Sanctuary, both online and in-person, are the exclusive intellectual property of The Practical Sanctuary.

  • The Participant is granted a limited, non-transferable license to use the materials solely for their personal, non-commercial use.

  • Unauthorised recording, duplication, sharing, or commercial use of any session or course material is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate termination of the Participant's access without refund.

4. Online Participation and Technical Requirements
 
  • For all live and pre-recorded online lessons, the Participant is responsible for ensuring they have a stable internet connection, working video/audio equipment, and a suitable, safe space to practice free from hazards.

  • The Practical Sanctuary is not responsible for loss of service or connectivity issues experienced by the Participant. No refunds will be provided for technical difficulties on the Participant's side.

5. Liability and Indemnity
  • The Participant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless The Practical Sanctuary, its instructors, employees, and representatives from any and all claims, demands, damages, rights, or causes of action (including legal fees) arising from the Participant's participation in any of our activities.

  • The Practical Sanctuary takes all reasonable care to ensure the safety of in-person venues. However, participants are responsible for their personal belongings.

6. Data Protection and Privacy
  • The Practical Sanctuary is committed to protecting your privacy. Any personal information (including health information) collected during booking or through the use of our services will be handled in accordance with UK data protection laws (GDPR) and outlined in our separate Privacy Policy (available upon request or on our website).

7. Governing Law
  • These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
